Microsoft Build: A Flat Developer Box, Linux Parity Tools, and AI Sandboxing

Microsoft's Build developer conference highlighted several announcements, with the most notable hardware reveal being the Surface RTX Spark Dev Box — a compact developer PC powered by Nvidia's RTX Spark chip with up to 128GB of memory, acting as a spiritual successor to the 2023 Project Volterra device. On the software side, Microsoft announced improvements to the Windows Subsystem for Linux, including Windows-native coreutils tools and a one-command developer environment setup, alongside a new "Windows Developer Configurations" feature. Microsoft also introduced Microsoft Execution Containers (MXC), sandboxed environments designed to restrict and control AI agents like OpenClaw, limiting their access to system data and personal accounts.
