Lawsuit Claims Trump's Truth Social API Is Selling Government Information to the Highest Bidder

Nonprofit news organizations The Intercept and the Freedom of the Press Foundation have sued President Trump over Truth Social's "Truth API," which charges customers up to $100,000 per month for early access to Trump's posts, including official government announcements. The lawsuit argues this scheme violates the First and Fifth Amendments by giving paying customers — primarily high-frequency trading firms — preferential access to government information for private financial gain. The plaintiffs are seeking a court ruling that the practice is unconstitutional and an injunction barring Trump and his aides from posting official government information exclusively on Truth Social while the paid API remains in place.
